Chef in the Garden
The Chef in the Garden (CITG) program is simple:
Blue Watermelon Project chefs design recipes inspired by an ingredient that can be grown in school gardens. Culinary and garden activities are tied to the recipe to reinforce curriculum concepts taught in the classroom. Each CITG experience, or kit, includes the ingredients and materials needed to complete the culinary and garden lesson. Kits come with resources like an instructional video, teacher's guide, parent letter, planting instructions and school garden tips. View some examples on the resources tab.
The goal of the Chef in the Garden program is to enable schools to deliver garden and culinary lessons to students in a way that meets the specific needs of their campus and community. Through coaching and professional development, we support Site Reps with setting goals to achieve sustainable programming that will continue well beyond receipt of the Chef in the Garden grant.
